The world says that commitment in marriage is based on good feelings, good behavior, or good luck. But what does Scripture say it means for followers of Christ? The Bible says our first commitment is to the Lord and to pursue His design for us. In the covenant of marriage, we are called to honor our vow until death, even if one spouse is not living in a way that follows through on their promise. When both husband and wife continue to confirm their lifetime commitment, they can meet hard times with confidence and trust in the fact that their relationship will not crumble. When one spouse alone remains committed, God honors them with His own faithfulness and blessings through struggles.
