Additional Resources on Forgiveness

Asking for forgiveness can be hard, but you might have noticed that the closer the relationship the more difficult it seems to truly reach a place of reconciliation. In the context of marriage, hurts can cut deeper and true apologies can be harder to come by than possibly any other relationship. Forgiveness in marriage is a choice that comes from cultivating humility, creating good habits (like consistent time in prayer, in Scripture, and with community) and dealing with the struggles, habits, and hang-ups that cause hurt to our spouses. Fortunately, the Bible is clear about ways that we can grow in our ability to both offer and receive true forgiveness. Since we are all sinners, every marriage needs this skill in order to thrive.
